JAVAREE TALKS

Mornings in a house with young kids can feel like a gauntlet on that ’90s show American Gladiators. One sock is missing, the spills (supporting open cup usage), someone doesn’t want to wear pants, and suddenly everyone’s energy is rising, and not in a good way. But remember, you’re not alone in this.

What if the first 20 minutes of your day could shift the whole tone? Imagine that.

One dad shared that he implemented a plan we created together and started waking up just 15 minutes before the rest of the house. Not for a workout or even meditation, to be awake. That quiet moment gave him a head start. He could move more calmly through the morning, greet his kid with a centered hello, and stay present even when someone asked for waffles after he had already made their favorite bagels.

The trick isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence!

  • Here are a few small rituals that can help any of us set the tone:

  • Pack the bag the night before, and teach your child to do it with you

  • Put your phone down until after breakfast.

  • Choose a “morning song” that plays as everyone brushes their teeth or gets dressed

  • Share one sentence of encouragement as you head out the door

When we treat mornings as more than a rush to the next thing, we reclaim them as connection time. Even two minutes of eye contact, a joke, or a shared breath in the car can be the anchor your kid carries through their whole day.

So much of parenting happens in the transitions, from home to school, from sleep to awake, from chaos to calm. If we can ground ourselves in these moments, we offer our kids the same steadiness we want for ourselves. Mornings don’t have to be a battle. With intention, they can become one of the best parts of our routine.

MONEY MOVES

One of the most important things a dad can do for a family is take control of his finances. Tracking your income, spending, and investments provides peace of mind and relief, setting a strong foundation for your family’s future.

I use Monarch to stay on top of everything. It’s a game-changer for organizing finances, budgeting, and long-term planning. It’s empowered me to create a system that works for my family, and I highly recommend it.
