Hey, Ready To Dad Crew!
September is a month of rhythm. Summer fades, school routines kick in, and suddenly our calendars are humming with new beats. For dads, this shift can feel both energizing and overwhelming. But remember, it's all manageable. Mornings start earlier, evenings fill with homework, and weekends get busy fast, but with the right approach, we can navigate this rhythm with confidence and control.
This month, we’re leaning into rhythm not as a strict schedule, but as the steady flow that helps our families thrive. As fathers, we play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining these routines. Each week, we’ll explore a piece of that rhythm, reinforcing our influence and significance in our family's well-being.
Think of September as your reset, a chance to set anchors, create space for connection, and let your family move in sync, fostering a sense of unity and understanding among all family members.

JAVAREE TALKS
September, with its crisp air and back-to-school energy, feels like a reset button. After the whirl of summer, routines that once felt natural can feel a little off. This week is about tuning in to your family’s pace and finding where the beat feels steady again. Let the September reset inspire you to make positive changes in your family's routine.
For me, mornings started to work better when I made a small change-getting up 15 minutes earlier for a quiet glass of water before the kids woke up. Even a few minutes of quiet time to stretch or sit down to eat breakfast felt steadier than trying to eat while walking around, helping the kids get ready for school. This small change set a calmer tone and helped me be more patient when it was time to head out the door. It's amazing how a small adjustment can make a big difference.
Rhythm is not about strict schedules. It is about recognizing the natural rhythm of your household and establishing simple, reliable anchors for everyone. These anchors could be breakfast together, a stretch before school, or reading at bedtime. They could also be regular family walks, weekly movie nights, or even a daily check-in to share highs and lows. The key is to find what works for your family and stick to it.
This week, try making one daily moment a family anchor.
At breakfast, you could ask, “What’s one thing you’re looking forward to today?”
At bedtime, you might say, “What was the best part of your day?”
And don't forget to involve your kids in creating and maintaining these anchors. Ask them what they enjoy doing together as a family and how they think the routine could be improved. Their input is valuable and will help them feel more invested in the family rhythm.
