Closing The Year With Growth And Gratitude

How Reflection Can Help Us Show Up More Intentionally as Parents in the New Year

Hey, Ready To Dad Crew!

Thank you for being here. Whether you've been with Ready to Dad since issue one or joined us somewhere along the way, your presence has been more than just a part of this incredible journey; you've been the essence of our community.

This past year has been about growth, learning from our experiences as parents, celebrating small wins, and building a community rooted in support and shared wisdom. Together, we've explored what it means to show up fully for our families while growing as individuals.

As we approach 2025, I'm eagerly looking forward to continuing this journey with you. Your shares, questions, and stories have been the heartbeat of Ready to Dad, helping us reach even more dads and families. Let's make this year one of connection, growth, and intentional parenting.

Here's to the next phase of Ready to Dad!

JAVAREE TALKS

As this year ends, I look back on the moments that defined my parenting journey, including the challenges, the wins, and even the times I didn’t get it right. I remember the nights spent rocking my youngest back to sleep and the mornings when my preschooler pushed every boundary possible. Yes, all of them. Hahaha!

Parenting keeps us moving forward, sometimes so fast that we don’t pause to reflect. But as we head into the new year, I’m making space to look back, learn, and be intentional about the year ahead.

Looking back, I’m not dwelling on the past but rather acknowledging the new growth in our family. It’s a time to celebrate our successes and learn from the moments that didn’t go as planned. This process of reflection strengthens our bond with ourselves, enabling us to be more present, patient, and purposeful parents.

The new year gives us a chance to reset and refocus. It’s a moment to consider:

  • The habits you want to start, stop, or continue.

  • The areas you want to show up in are different.

  • How you better model growth, resilience, and emotional regulation for your child

As we wrap up the year, here are a few questions to help guide your reflection and intention-setting:

  1. What’s one parenting moment from this year that you’re proud of?

  2. What’s something your child taught you about yourself?

  3. When did you feel most connected to your child? How can you create more of those moments?

  4. What’s one habit or mindset you’d like to leave behind?

  5. What’s one value you want to focus on teaching your child next year?
